Hayden is the elder sibling in his small family, but he is a family oriented young man. He loves his little sister, and lets her share a bunk with him every summer when their family visits. His relationship with his father, on the other hand, is quite strained as a result of one drunken night when he avsvhus father had raided a bar and Serghei drunkenly beat him, leaving him for dead.
